Abstract
The author biometrically measured 22 items on 3257 Korean women from 17 to 20 years of age chosen from the Ewha Womans University applicants in 1960..
The present report is restricted on the following six items, the head length, the head breadth, the maximum interzygomatic breadth, the bigonial face height, the physiognomical face height, and the morphological face height. The obtained means, and indexes are given in the original tables 2-14, also the table 1 shows age and geographical distribution.
1) On any of the above mentioned six items, no recognizable differences were found among each _age groups of those examined who were 17 to 20 years of age. Judging from the data_ we could. say -that -. Korean women made their complete growth by the age of 17 years as long as cephalic category.
2) There is no recognizable differences between the geographical groups also. On this data, we could surmise that this vague geographical differences was caused, by intergeographical manages, regular school course, and higher social intercommunications.
3) The head breadth, the maximum interzygomatic breadth and the bigonial breadth have a significantly higher value comparing with that of the neighbour races, but the rest items were similar to those of the neighbours.
4) The Korean head-breadth index shows exceedingly higher value comparing with that of the neighbour races.
5) The indexes of the physiognomical face height and the morphological face height were increased according with the age is growing even if it is very minimum. This data indicate that the face height is more growing than the maximum interzygomatic breadth in accordance with the age.
6) The indexes of the physiognomical face height and the morphological face height of the Korean women have a higher value than those of the Japanese women, this data imply that Korean wemen have a ;long face and Japanese round. Especially the index of the physiognomical face height of Korean women reveals a much higher value than that of the Japanese, meaning that the Korean women have a long forehead.
7) The Korean index of the morphological face height have a higher value compared with those of the Chinese and the Mantschurian, but the index of the physiognomical face height shows similar between them. This results also shows a long forehead in Korean women than that of the Chinese and Mantschurian.
8) The relational ratio of the Korean physiognomical face height to the stature stand the range of 11.75 and 11.79 in all age groups, and the mean of total age group shows 11.75 f 0. 01, meaning no differences between all age groups. Judging from the above mentioned results. We could say that the proportion of growth between the stature and the physiognomical face height have a direct proportion.
